BJP-Shiv Sena looks at retaining power in Maharashtra

The ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is looking at retaining power in Maharashtra as per early trends of Maharashtra election results show the saffron brigade leading in over 170 seats in the 288-seat Maharashtra assembly.

The alliance needs 145 seats to form the government. While in the Opposition, Congress is ahead in 34 seats and NCP is leading in 38 seats and faring better that the bigger partner that is Congress. The Sharad Pawar-led party appears to have fared better than its parent party and is seen performing well in Western Maharashtra.
