Aurangabad, Oct 23 : Apprehending tampering of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Balasaheb Thorat has demanded that jammers should be installed in the vicinity of
strong rooms and counting centres where the EVMs have been kept.
Addressing a letter to the Chief Election Officer (CEO) in Mumbai, late on Tuesday, Mr Thorat has stated that after counting the votes for each round, the voting statistics should be declared immediately and only after that the next round should be counted.
He also mentioned that candidates of any political parties should be given the choice of select of VVPAT machines in each constituency for vote calculation. "Also, if there is any doubt about any voting system", the state Congress president asserted that the votes cast in the voting system be counted four times in a row, and that 50 percent VVPAT should be counted.
Mr Thorat, in the wake of news channels declaring exit polls not in favour of Congress, demanded that exit polls figures must be declared booth wise, so as to end confusion among voters.(UNI)
