Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 18 : With just hours to end campaigning for October 21 Assembly election in the 288 Assembly segments in Maharashtra, the Election Commission of India(ECI) has fully prepared to conduct election in a free, fair and transparent manner in the state.
According to the official statement from ECI here on Friday, in all the 288 constituencies, total 1,79,895 Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), 1,26,505 control units and 1,35,021 VVPAT among spare units will be utilised for conducting the election.
There are total 8,98,39,600 voters including 4,68,75750 males, 4,28,43,635 females, 3,9600 differently-abled, 2634 transgenders and 1,17,581 service voters will exercise their franchise across the state.
Voters will cast their votes through a total of 96661 polling stations including 95473 main polling stations and 1188 assistant polling stations in the state.
The ECI also established 352 Sakhi Polling booths in the state which is managed by women employees. Special arrangements has been made and facilities will be there for differently-abled and aged/sick voters in each and every polling stations.
More than 6.5 lakh specially-trained employees including poll officers were deputed in the state, it said. The statement further said that, ECI has taken special awareness campaign of election among voters.
In the awareness drive, scientists, litterateurs, actors, sports personalities, Arjuna awardees, specially-abled workers, transgender workers were participated.
EC also launched a special app for registering complaints related to violation of model code of conduct, GPS tracking system for EVMs transporting vehicles among others.
Voters will get the details of their polling booths on https://electoralsearch.in web site, the statement added.
Mandate of total 3237 candidates across the 288 Assembly constituencies will be announced on October 24.(UNI)
