Aurangabad, Oct 10 : Campaigning for 46 Assembly seats across the eight districts of Marathwada region has picked up with rallies, meetings, padyatras and door-to-door visits by various parties candidates in the region, which is scheduled on October 21.
There are about 676 candidates in poll arena from the 46 constituencies in Aurangabad (9) Nanded (9), Hingoli (3), Parbhani (4), Latur (6), Osmanabad (4), Jalna (5), Beed (6) in the region.
Prominent among the contestants are Pankaja Munde, Harbhau Bagade, Atul Save, Sambhaji Nilangekar-Patil, Baban Lonikar all are from BJP, Rajesh Tope, Rahul Mote of NCP, Ashok Chavan, Kalyan Kale, Basavraj Patil of Congress, Sanjay Shirsat, Rahul Patil, Pardeep Jaiswal, Abdul Sattar of Shiv Sena, AIMIM, VBA among others parties candidates are contesting polls.
Besides, both the main alliance BJP-SS-RPI(A)-RSP-Rayat Kranthi and Cong-NCP alongwith other like- minded parties like BSP, AAP, VBA, some other smaller parties and independent candidates are also trying their luck by filing nominations.
However, all the major parties once again failed to represent women in the election.
BJP national president Amit Shah will address a rally at Kilari in Lathur district today. Meanwhile, Congress State president Balasaheb Thorat will address election rallies in Latur and Osmanabad district and NCP chief Sharad Pawar who is already on his tour of Vidharbha region will complete his first round of the region.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has already addressed numbers of meeting across the state. Sources said VBA chief Adv Prakash Ambedkar will also conduct a meet here.
While Pankaja Munde is in Aurangabad today, BJP is in process to finalise the public rallies of Narendra Modi across the state.
However, possibility of former president of Congress Rahul Gandhi hosting rallies here seems low as no information has been revealed so far. (UNI)
