Agency News

Mr Gaikwad has filed two nominations for the Maharashtra Assembly polls -- one as an Independent and another as official candidate of the Congress. According to official sources in the district election office, Mr Gaikwad, who is currently a ZP member of RPI-D, was given ticket by the Congress from Aurangabad West constituency which is reserved for SC category.

Since Mr Gaikwad left the column of criminal record as blank in both the nomination papers, the same were declared invalid by the election officer, they pointed. Mr Gaikwad, while confirming the news, explained that as he did not have any criminal records, he had left the said column blank and added that he would challenge this decision in the court of law.

Following this development, there is no Congress candidate in the three constituencies in the city, as the Aurangabad Central seat has gone to NCP and Aurangabad East to SP in seat-sharing formula.(UNI)
