Mumbai, Oct 3 : Shiv Sena scion Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday filed his nomination papers from Worli constituency of central Mumbai.
Before filing the nomination form, the Sena hold a massive rally in Worli, where Aaditya was accompanied by his parents, brother Tejas along with Sena leaders Sachin Ahir and Arvind Sawant.
Aaditya Thackeray happens to be the first member of the Sena founder Bal Thackeray family who is contesting the election as since the Shiv Sena was founded in 1966, no member of the family had contested any election or held any constitutional post.
The Sena put up huge hoardings of Aaditya Thackeray, all over the constituency with greetings written on various languages apart from Marathi. Addressing the rally here in Worli, Aditya said that contesting elections is a historical point for him. He also said that Maharashtra will soon have a Shiv Sena chief minister and he will serve the state as the people expect him to.
Aaditya is being projected as the party's pick for the post of deputy chief minister if the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance returns to power for a second consecutive term.
The elections for the 288-member legislative assembly in Maharashtra to be held on October 21, in a single phase while the counting of votes will be on October 24. (UNI)
