BJP announces 125 names for Maharashtra assembly polls

New Delhi, Oct 1 : BJP on Tuesday announced the first list with 125 names for the Maharashtra Assembly polls and Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis will contest from from Nagpur South West while state party chief Chandrakant Dada Patil from Kothrud.

The Central Election Committee of the BJP met under the presidentship of Mr Amit Shah and finalised 125 candidates of the 288-seat assembly elections, to be held on October 21.
National General Secretary Arun Singh told reporters here that the meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national working president J P Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and members of the Central Election Committee of the BJP.
He said for Satara Lok Sabha bypolls, BJP is fielding Udayannraje Bhosle, descendent of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
From Satara assembly seat, the party has decided to field Shivendrasinh Abhaysingraje Bhosale, also a descendant of Shivaji.

Former Pune Mayor Sau Mukta Tilak, wife of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak's great-grandson Shailesh, will contest from Kasba Peth constituency. Mr Singh expressed confidence that the party will win with three-fourth majority in assembly elections.
He said 12 incumbent candidates have been dropped from the list and 52 sitting legislators have been included in the first list. The 125 names includes 12 women candidates, the BJP leader said.

Dr Vijaykumar Gavit is the party candidate from Nandurbar (ST), Ms Shweta Mahale from Chikliand and Mr Mohan Mate from Nagpur South. Sau Devyani Farande will contest from Nashik Central, Ms Manisha Chaudhari from Dahisar, Ms Vidya Thakur from Goregaon.(UNI)
