Thane, Sep 28 : The Bombay high court has quashed the order of the district court granting anticipatory bail to former chairman of the Shree Vajreshwari Yogini Devi Sanstan, Manoj Pradhan, who has been booked by the Rural Police in case of multi-crore fraud.
Pradhan has been booked under sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 472 of Indian Penal Code registered with Ganeshpuri police station.
It was alleged that during his tenure as chairman of the board of trustees, he had swindled over Rs 4 crore by fabricating records and investments between 2014 and 2017.
Pradhan is also former president of the Thane city unit of NCP. The police acted following the complaint by a trustee. Meanwhile, Pradhan approached the district court here seeking pre-arrest bail, which was granted by the court on January 7.
While strongly objecting to the bail application, the DGP had then argued that the nature of the offence was serious. In its order passed recently, the high court judge Ms Revati Mohite-Dere quashed the order of the district court and set it aside. The court also ordered the respondent to surrender before the concerned investigating officer on or before September 30. (UNI)
