Kolhapur, Sep 4: Heavy rains lashed the district, particularly the western part, throughout the day on Wednesday, forcing the authorities to open the gates of main irrigation dam.
Unabated rainfall was witnessed in many parts including Gaganbavda, Radhanagar.According to district weather office, the four automatic doors of main Radhanagari irrigation dam were opened again. A total of 7,112 cusec water discharged in the basin of Bhigavati river, causing increase water level at main Panchanganga river.
The water level of Panchanganga river at Rajaram weir was 23.7 feet at 1900 hrs this evening and total 16 weirs were underwater of rising water level of different rivers in the district including Panchaganga, Bhogavati, Kumbhi, Kasari, Vedganga, Warna.
All fourteen irrigation dams including Radhanagari, Kadvi, Chitri, Jagamhatti, Ghatprabha, Jambhare, Kode had already filed with its capacity. (UNI)
