NCP exodus saga continues: Osmanabad MLA to join BJP

Aurangabad, Sep 1: In a severe jolt to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Osmanabad's NCP MLA Rana Jagjitsinh has decided to join hands with Bhartiya Janata Party, party sources confirmed here on Sunday.

Mr Jagjitsinh -- son of former Maharashtra cabinet minister Dr Padmasinh Patil -- will be joining the party in presence of Union Home minister Amit Shah on Sunday evening. Jagjitsinh had on Saturday called a meeting of his supporters in Osmanabad and declared his decision of joining BJP after consulting with supporters, however, he said that his love and affection will be continue for Mr Pawar.

"There are is personal grudge against anyone. I have taken this decision for the development of District which is reeling under severe drought situation." he said. Jagjitsinh was defeated by his arch rival cousin brother Om Raje Nimbalkar of Shiv Sena in the recent Lok Sabha elections from Osmanabad constituency.

Dr Padmasinh, father of Jagjitsinh is considered a close confidant of party supremo Sharad Pawar and is currently on bail in Pawan Raje Nimbalkar murder case -- father of incumbent MP Om Raje Nimbalkar. (UNI)
