Gandhinagar, Aug 26: Gujarat cadre IAS officer Gaurav Dahiya, who was suspended after allegations of bigamy, torture and cheating by a Delhi based woman, on Monday appeared before the Gujarat State Commission for Women here. Earlier the complainant, Leenu Singh had also appeared before the commission on August 20 and sought justice for her and the eight month old daughter whom she had given birth after her marriage with already married Dahiya.
The commission had issued fresh summons to Mr Dahiya on that day. Charmian of the commission Lilaben Ankoliya later told the media that if needed the commission would again summon Mr Dahiya and Ms Singh together for a joint interrogation. The Gujarat Government had on August 14 suspended the IAS officer who was posted as the Joint Secretary in the General Administration Department (Planning). The orders read that he was facing serious charges of misconduct and moral turpitude.
Ms Singh had earlier last month alleged that the IAS officer had compelled her to marry him secretly and later tortured her for giving birth to a girl child. He denied all the allegations saying that the lady was trying to blackmail him and was not speaking the truth. Ms Singh had filed a complaint with the crime against women cell of Delhi police earlier last month. The complainant alleged that Mr Dahiya had befriend her through Facebook while he was in Mexico in October, 2017 and she was a final year student in Delhi.
Later he came closer to her and requested her to marry saying that he has filed a divorce petition against his first wife. But she was not willing to marry him as her parents were against it and she felt sympathy towards his first wife. The officer had taken her objectionable pictures after drugging her during their stay in Shangrila hotel in Delhi and had threatened her to upload these on social media if she did not marry her. They got married in Tirupati Balaji temple in February last year. She further alleged that when she gave birth to a girl child, he tortured her saying that he wanted a male child. UNI
