Maharashtra govt to rehabilitate flood-affected: Minister

Kolhapur, Aug 21 : Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday surveyed the villages, which have been completely devastated by flood and announced that the affected people will be rehabilitated at other places.

The Minister visited the villages of Nilewadi, June Pargaon and Nave Pargaon, stating that the villagers will be allotted houses at either a government or private land, accordingly. He said the financial aid of Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh will be doled out in rural and city areas, respectively, so that the affected person can rebuild their houses.

He further said that Rs 2,000 will be given for a one-year-period, so that people can live on a rental basis.

"Around Rs 27.47 crore financial aid has been distributed, including Rs 5,000 in cash and 20 kg food grain to each affected family," he claimed.

"Our first priority is to shift the affected people at safer places. Presently, 4.13 lakh people have been shifted to safer places," he added.(UNI)
