Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 19 : The Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) resumed its Shiv Swarajya Yatra on Monday, in accordance with the upcoming state polls, from the Paithan town of this district. According to the NCP, the yatra or tour was designed to highlight the failures of the ruling dispensation, however, was suspended owing to the massive floods,which have left behind a trail of destruction in the western Maharashtra.
Attributing the yatra as 'Nava Swarajyacha Nava Lada'(Fight for freedom), Shirur MP Amol Kolhe resumed the tour after visiting the Sant Eknath Maharaj Samadhi here. With its commencement on August 6, the NCP suspended the yathra when it reached the Nashik district, stating that the partymen would be roped in for relief work in flood-hit districts. The yatra would travel towards the Jalna district, the party officials said. Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar, MLC Vikram Kale, former MLA Sanjay Wagchoure,among others attended the resumption of the yatra. UNI
