Nashik, Aug 18: The district and sessions court here deferred the hearing on bail application of Nashik Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) chairman and former corporator Shivaji Chumble, arrested in a bribery case, until August 19 and sent him to judicial custody till then.
Chumble was on Friday arrested by the Nashik unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting the bribe of Rs three lakh for regularising the complainant-contractual workers. Later in the evening, he was produced before the court by the police, who demanded for police custody while his lawyer moved the bail application.
After strong arguments by both sides, the court adjourned the hearing of Chumble's bail plea until Monday. The ACB, however, will move the Bombay high court for demanding police custody to Chumble. (UNI)
