Electricity supply restored in flood-hit areas of Kolhapur, Sangli

Kolhapur, Aug 11: Four days after the state power utility cut the electricity supply to the flood-ravaged Kolhapur and Sangli districts as a precautionary measure, the MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd) has restored electricity of 1.11 lakh consumers in both the districts so far.

After the electricity supply of more than three lakh consumers had been cut as a precautionary step after the floods in the two districts, MSEDCL officers and staff had worked on war-footing and restored electricity supply of total 1, 11,467 consumers, including 94,353 in Kolhapur and 17,114 in Sangli, during the weekend so far, an official press note said here on Sunday.

The electricity supply has been smoothly restored in Vikramnagar, Shukrawar Peth, Laxmipuri areas of Kolhapur district and the College Corner, Hirabag area, Madhavnagar, Civil Hospital to 100 feet road areas of Sangli, it added.(UNI)
