Kolhapur, Jul 28 : Due to heavy downpour in past 24 hours, the situation was grim in this district as the water level of main Panchaganga river increased by 12 feet while most of the irrigation dams were almost full on Sunday.
According to district collector's office, main irrigation dam, Radhanagari, was filled with 6.51 TMC of out of total 8.361 capacity till 8am.
Three irrigation dams--Ghatprabha, Jambhare and Kode--are already full.The water level in other ten irrigation dams has also increased.
Moreover, the water level in various rivers including Panchanganga, Bhogavati, Kasari, Dudhganga, Vedganga has increased causing a flood-like situation in Shignapur, Rajaram, Terwad, Haldi, Shirol, Surve, Rashivade Rui. Vehicular traffic in these places was closed.
The traffic was also disrupted on Ratnagiri national highway near Ambapwadi in Shahuwadi tehsil of this district following a tree collapse. (UNI)
