Thane, Jul 28 : A road that links Murbad town with Kalyan has been washed away at Rayta village following heavy downpour in the early hours of Sunday.
The Murbad Tehsildar Amol Kadam told that the bridge on the river in Rayta village has also been badly damaged and part of it got washed away affecting the vehicular traffic on the highway heading to Ahmednagar.
Following this, the traffic on the route has been suspended till further instructions.
The Rayta bridge, situated on the Ulhas river has been overflowing since last two days. It has resulted in floods in Balapur, Titwala and Kalyan.
Over 370 houses were totally submerged in the floods and the inmates were rescued and shifted to safer places since last night, he said.The taluka administration was presently assessing the damaged caused due to the heavy rains and floods in the taluka.(UNI)
