ACB nabs DCWO, Secretary in graft case

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jul 24: District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) attached with Zilla Parishad Latur and secretary of disabled school education society were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Latur unit while accepting bribe of Rs Seven lakh from a school teacher.

According to the ACB Latur, DSWO Shivanand Mingire (35) has demanded Rs 9.40 lakh as bribe to issue long pending wages of Rs 47.44 lakh to the school teacher. The DCWO asked the teacher to pay Rs 7 lakh as first installment to the secretory Umakant Tapsale (52).

The school teacher then registered the complaint against DCWO in ACB Latur unit. Acting on the complaint, ACB Latur laid a trap in Hotel Sanjay Quality on Barshi road in Latur on Tuesday night and caught secretory Tapsale red-handed while accepting bribe amount of Rs Seven lakh from the complainant on the behalf of DCWO Mingire. Later, ACB also arrested Mingire.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018 at Shivaji nagar station against the duo, the statement added. (UNI)
