Aurangabad, Jul 15 : Depressed over deficit rainfall, infertility of land and mounting bank loans, four farmers allegedly committed suicides through different means in Beed district of Marathwada region during the past 24 hours.
According to reports, in the first incident, the deceased Ganesh Gangadhar Ghubade (26), a resident of Raje wadi village in Majalgaon tehsil committed suicide by hanging himself at his resident on Saturday night. He was distressed as he defaulted on loan repayments.While in the second incident, farmer Keshav Momin (58), a resident of Maida village in Beed taluka was fed up with mounting debt and took this extreme step at his resident on Sunday.
In another instance, Balasaheb Bhandwalkar (65), a resident of Sushi village of Gevrai Tehsil committed suicide by hanging himself on Sunday, due to mounting loan amount.
One Baburao Gund, resident of Kaij town ended his life by consuming position after he failed to repay crop loan amount, report said.
Separate cases were registered in the concerned police stations as per jurisdiction.
Farmers of Marathwada region are caught in tormented state, due to deficit rainfall.
Sowing of crops have also been hampered and if the situation continues, sown sapling of the crop will also get damaged.
It may be noted that so far more than 400 farmers from Marathwada region have committed suicides since Jan 1, 2019 .(UNI)
