Kolhapur, Jul 12 : The Kolhapur-Gaganbavda national highway was closed Friday morning after flooded water of the Kumbhi river inundated the highway near Mandukali village, sources at District Collectorate said here on Friday.
Owing to heavy downpour, vehicular traffic to Kokan area has been stopped and diverted via Karul Ghat and Bhuibavda.
With heavy rains lashing the region since the past three days, the water reached near Panchanganga hospital, Gangavrsh-Shivaji bridge road of the city leading to closure of the road for traffic.
Besides, Koge-Beed-Shiroli in Karveer tehsil, Bazar Bhogav road in Gaganbavda tehsil are also not operational.
A total of 70 bandharas (weirs) were overflowing while water level of the Panchanganga river at Rajaram bandhara was 37.5 feet at 0800 hrs this morning, which was nearer to its warning danger mark of 39 feet.(UNI)
