Aurangabad, Jul 8 : To protest against the stringent conditions imposed on auto-rickshaw drivers, the three-wheelers will remain off the road on Tuesday, the Autorickshaw Chalak Malak Sanghatana announced on Monday.
The statement issued by the Sanghatana said the auto-rickshaw drivers would observe a strike and demonstrate in front of the District Collector's office, seeking relaxation in the conditions.
However, patients and senior citizens would be provided service during the strike, it added.
As per the statement, the agitators demanded the government to cancel to the three-time increase in insurance rate for auto-rickshaw drivers; stopping of Uber service, issuing permits, in proportion to the population; appointment of one non-government member on the RTO committee, establishing welfare board for drivers and developing a residential locality for them, the statement said.
