Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jul 2: Aurangabad unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday registered a bribery case against Assistant Civil Engineer attached with Panchayat Samiti office of Aurangabad for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1000 from a complainant.
ACB's official statement Tuesday stated that the alleged accused engineer identified as Subhash Dantole had sought Rs 5000 as bribe from complainant on May 8 for releasing final payment of Rs 30000 under the ‘Ramai’ housing scheme.
After the bargaining, the accused accepted to take Rs 1000 as bribe.
Reluctant to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and registered a complaint against the engineer.
Based on the complaint, the ACB carried out an investigation and it was proved that the alleged accused constable demanded Rs 1,000 as bribe from the complainant to release payment cheque and transfer into his bank account.
As per finding, the ACB on Tuesday registered a case under various sections of ACB amendment Act of 2018 with city chowk police station against the engineer and further investigation is on, the statement added. (UNI)
