Woman among five booked for blackmailing man, making Rs 5 lakh extortion demand

Palghar, Jun 15 : A total of five people, including a woman,were booked from the Virar city here on Friday on the alleged charges of blackmailing and demanding Rs five lakh extortion money from the complainant,informed the District Rural Police on Saturday.
Quoting the 30-year-old complainant,the police said he had a fling with the accused woman Archana More and subsequently between January 23-29, the woman made the extortion demand.

The accused woman forced to give half extortion amount Rs 2.50 lakh in lieu of not filing rape offence against him,said police.Following negotiations,the accused settled to the amount of Rs 1.50 lakh after which the complainant gave Rs 50,000 cheque to the woman,mentioned police.

The police further said when the complainant didn't give the remaining amount,one of the accused called him,and threatened to abduct and kill his children. The other four accused are Samir Yadav, Mahesh,Santosh Parab and Sudesh Jadhav,added police.The Virar Police Station has registered offences against the five accused under relevant IPC sections and no arrest is made yet, stated police.
