VVMC Corporator held for multiple illegal constructions in Palghar

Palghar, May 28 : The district police on Tuesday arrested a Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVMC) Corporator,on the alleged charges of multiple illegal constructions in Datta Mandir area of Virar city, here.

The accused has been identified as Arun Jadhav, Corporator of Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) party, who had gone underground in April, 2019, after Tulinj Police booked him for illegally constructing a building on a land at Virar's Datta Mandir area here, Police Spokesperson Hemant Katkar said.

According to police, businessman and activist Kumar Kakde had complained to the VVCMC in 2016, after noticing illegal construction on the land owned by him. The 37-year-old activist claimed that the buildings were constructed by Jadhav. Mr Kakde approached the VVMC Assistant Commissioner, as well as the local police station, saying that the usurped land was owned by his family, according to the government records.

Based on the complaint of the VVMC Assistant Commissioner, Tulinj Police registered an FIR under the relevant IPC sections of cheating and forgery, in 2016.In 2016, Mr Kakde once again complained against the accused for allegedly constructing an illegal building, housing 36 flats on the land, in the vicinity of Kakde-owned property.

He said, "In both the cases, Jadhav forged the CIDCO's commencement certificate and then produced it before a VVCMC authority and constructed buildings on both the lands."On the complaint of VVMC Assistant Commissioner Vijay Chavan, a police case against Jadhav was filed under the relevant IPC sections, pertaining to cheating and forgery, whereas two similar cases have been previously registered against him.
