Heat waves likely to sweep across eastern & western India

Pune, May 25 : Owing to sustained rainfall activity over Andaman and Nicobar Islands,the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of southeast Bay of Bengal,north Andaman Sea as well as remaining parts of Nicobar Islands and southern parts of Andaman Islands.

Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal,Odisha,east Uttar Pradesh,west Madhya Pradesh,Telangana,Rayalaseema,north interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of east Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Jharkhand,east Madhya Pradesh, madhya Maharashtra,Marathwada,Vidarbha,Tamil Nadu,and Kerala.Day temperatures were below normal in some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and in remaining parts of Assam,Meghalaya,west Uttar Pradesh as well as west Rajasthan.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of east Rajasthan and were markedly below normal in some parts of Assam,Meghalaya,Nagaland,Manipur, Mizoram,Tripura,west Uttar Pradesh,Haryana,Chandigarh and Delhi,Punjab,Jammu and Kashmir,and west Rajasthan.

Day temperatures were normal over rest of the country.The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 46.6 degrees celsius in Chandrapur of Vidarbha in Maharashtra.Heat waves swept across isolated parts of Vidarbha as well as southern madhya Maharashtra. Heavy rainfalls very likely to lash at isolated places in Assam,Meghalaya,Nagaland,Manipur, Mizoram,Tripura,south interior Karnataka,and Kerala.

Heat waves very likely to sweep across isolated parts of Vidarbha,Odisha,Jharkhand, east Madhya Pradesh,south madhya Maharashtra,Marathwada,Chhattisgarh,and Telangana.Thunderstorm along with gusty winds very likely at isolated places in Odisha,Nagaland,Manipur,Mizoram,Tripura,Assam,Meghalaya,West Bengal,Sikkim, coastal Andhra Pradesh,Telangana,Rayalaseema,Tamil Nadu,south interior Karnataka,and Kerala.

Duststorm or thunderstorm along with gusty winds with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph very likely at isolated places in west Rajasthan. Squall weather with wind with speed reaching up 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely over southeast Arabian Sea,along and off Kerala coast hence fisherman are advised not to venture into these areas during next 24 hours.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Assam,Meghalaya,Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura,Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim,Jammu and Kashmir,south interior karnataka,Uttarakhand,Kerala and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh,Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh,coastal Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands,Odisha, Jharkhand,east and west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana,Punjab,Rajasthan,east Madhya Pradesh,madhya Maharashtra,Telangana, Rayalaseema,Tamil Nadu,and north interior Karnataka.Mainly dry weather prevailed in Bihar,west Madhya Pradesh,Vidarbha,Chhattisgarh,Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa,Marathwada,coastal Andhra Pradesh,and Lakshadweep.  UNI
