Pune, May 22: The conditions are favorable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, north Andaman Sea,and Andaman Islands, during the next two to three days.
Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Chhattisgarh and in remaining parts of Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Kerala.
Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State, Karnataka and in remaining parts of madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha,and Tamil Nadu.
Day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in some parts of Rayalaseema, Kerala and day temperatures were below normal in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Day temperatures were normal over rest of the country.
The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 46.6 degree Celsius in Chandrapur of Vidarbha in Maharashtra.
Heat waves swept across isolated places in madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Bihar, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Heavy to very heavy rainfalls likely to lash at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Thunderstorm along with gusty winds likely at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Telangana, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, north and south interior Karnataka and Kerala.
Dust storm along with gusty winds with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph very likely at isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan during next 24 hours.
Heat waves to severe heat waves were very likely in isolated pockets Vidarbha, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, south Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.
Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, north interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, south interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Haryana, east and west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
Mainly dry weather prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh ,Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Lakshadweep. (UNI)
