Nanded,May 16 : Various Hindu organisations have written to the Prime Minister's Office seeking to shut down the Facebook account of controversial Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik and his Islamic Research Foundation. In a copy of petition submitted to resident collector Santosh Venikar on Thursday, the organisations -- Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and others -- alleged that on November 17,2016, Dr Naik and his organisation were banned by the central government even then his Facebook account was still operational with 1.75 crore followers all over the world.
Inspired by the speeches of Dr Naik, many youths were radicalised and resorted to terror acts in neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, it was mentioned in the petition.The organisations wondered as to how his Facebook account could be
kept up active despite the ban.Other demands raised by the organisations include to ban the porn sites and to regularise the fuel prices. (UNI)
