Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 14: The 128th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the architect of Indian constitution and Chairman of the Indian Constitution drafting committee, is being celebrated on Sunday with traditional fervor and enthusiasm in the city and across the Marathwada region.
Across the region comprising eight districts, various factions of dalit community, social organisations, government offices , panchayat raj institutions organised various programmes to pay tributes to the ‘Mahamanav’ on this occasion.
This morning, all parties including Ambedkar Jayanthi Ustav Samiti members paid homage to Dr Ambedkar at Bhadkal gate at a function.
People in all government offices in the entire Marathwada region’s eight district including Divisional commissioner office here , all collector offices and others government offices even in the educational institutions paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar.
Various organisations, including dalit factions, in the city have planned main processions which will be passing through main city roads and reach the venue of Dr Ambedkar statue at the historical Bhadkal gate by late in the evening , to pay homage to Dr Ambedkar.Later, Ambedkar's portrait will be garlanded.
Several cultural, social , padyartra programmes , orchestra ,blood donation events will also be held to commemorate the birthday of Dr Ambedkar.
Books based on the life Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar will also be released on the occasion.
Dr Ambedkar was a towering personality, who not only gave us Constitution but also fought for emancipation of underprivileged and poor sections of the society all his life. It was he who gave a voice to voiceless people and a place of honour in the political order of the country.
Police have made strict arrangements to avoid any untoward incident in the city as well as in the region during the celebrations. Meanwhile, sources from other districts in the region said Ambedkar Jayanthi is being celebrated enthusiastically.
