Nagpur, Apr 11: Naxalites triggered an IED blast near a polling booth at Waghezari of Etapalli Taluka in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli District on Thursday, where polling is underway for the first phase of Lok Sabha Election.
According to sources, the incident took place at 1100 hrs at Waghezari area, around 150 metres from the polling booth where people were standing in queues to cast their votes for the Lok Sabha election. The election was to be held at Zilla Parishad School, but for the security reason, it was shifted here and blast took place at this new place.
No injuries have been reported yet, sources said adding that Naxals were trying to disrupt the poll process and create panic among villagers, who came out in large numbers to vote. Gadchiroli is among the seven seats where polling is underway during the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. (UNI)
