Pune, Mar 31 : The Congress started electoral campaigning here on Sunday as the party is still mulling to choose the candidate who will be contesting the 17th Lok Sabha polls from Pune seat.
Talking to UNI, Congress City President Ramesh Bagwe said, "The delay in naming the candidate is because its a mentally arduous task to choose one person from the pool of so many," adding that all of candidates are hardworking and sincere, who have worked right from the grassroot levels.
He further said that the decision to begun the electoral campaign was taken owing to the enthusiasm of the party workers. "Our party workers are enthusiastic to start campaign since we are getting support from the Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) and other alliance parties," replied Mr Bagwe.
He stated that the Congress-NCP will sweep victory in Pune as well as in the other three seats of Maval, Shirur, and Baramati as the "people of Maharashtra has rejected the BJP after they failed to fulfill the promises made during 2014 LS polls."
According to the seat sharing, Congress will field its candidate on Pune seat while the other three seats of Maval, Shirur, and Baramati has been allotted to the NCP.
Mr Bagwe expressed that the masses bore the brunt of corruption, inflation, demonetization during the BJP rule and added that the Pulwama terror attack further battered the public tolerance.
"The BJP's anti-farmer policies have resulted in the rising numbers of farmers committing suicide in the Marathwada whereas several families were economically ruined as scores of small scale industries have to shut the businesses post-demonetization," remarked Mr Bagwe.
