Rs 50 lakh award on suspected accused Pawar, Akolkar in Com Pansare murder case

Kolhapur, Mar 28 : State home department on Thursday declared Rs fifty lakh award for giving information about Vinay Baburao Pawar (40) and Sarang Deelip Akolkar alias Kulkarni (38), suspected accused in Communist Party of India senior leader Com Govind Pansare murder case.

Earlier, it was Rs 10 lakh award to find out the assailants. According to District superintendent of police, Dr Abhinav Deshmukh, the reward money was hiked following not getting any information of both the suspected accused since last three years despite separate Special Investigating Teams (SIT) being deputed in different states including the state of Maharashtra.

SIT had also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on February 26, 2017 for proper information on the suspected accused as the SIT police could not trace the absconders.

Considering this, additional IG Sanjiv Singhal requested to the state government to raise the reward amount from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh and the home department acceded to the request.

Moreover, SIT appealed to the people to give any information about the accused Pawar and Akolkar to SIT or district and Pune special IG office and that the identity of the informer would be keep secret.

Accused Powar and Akolkar, also also suspects in Madgaon bomb explosion case, and absconding since the blast.Their properties have been sealed as per the court's order.

Meanwhile , state government has expanded the investigation team in Com Pansare murder case with appointment of seven more officials including one DYSP, two-police inspectors, three-API, and one-duty inspector taking the number of members of the team to 24.
