Sangli, Maharashtra, Mar 24: In a setback to Congress in western Maharashtra, grand-son of late state chief minister Vasantrao Patil and former MP, Prateek Prakash Patil resigned from the Congress party on Sunday evening.
In a letter to Congress party, Mr Patil said that his relation with Congress party was now ended and Congress party also not needed of Vasantrao Patil' family and on this ground he has decided to quit politics with tender resignation of Congress party's primary membership. However he would remain in social work activities.
This is considered setback for Congress in western part of the state in view of Congress party considering leaving the Sangli loksabha seat to Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghstana leader Raju Shetty. (UNI)
