Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 23 : District Congress President and Sillod MLA Abdul Sattar on Saturday tendered resignations for both the posts held by him.

Terming himself as the "common man" after resigning as the Congress legislator and party president of this district, Mr Sattar stated that he resorted to the move as he was denied party ticket for the Aurangabad seat. The Congress on Friday named Subhash Zambad as the party's candidate who will contest the 17th Lok Sabha polls from Aurangabad seat.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Sattar said that he has immensely contributed towards the party cause despite his works he was not given ticket. Recounting the party works, he further said that he mapped the 'Elgar Yatra' which was designed "to expose the failures of the BJP-Shiv Sena state government."

Further speaking, Mr Sattar verbally gave a glimpse of the public support he rejoices and said that even in 2014 when the "Modi Wave" was sweeping across the country, he was elected as the Sillod MLA with huge majority.

"Even after such accomplishments, the party did not consider my candidature for Aurangabad seat hence I decided to step down from the posts and contest as an independent," informed Mr Sattar.

Mr Sattar announced that he will organize a convention here on March 29 to address his followers. (UNI)
