Mumbai, Mar 14 : Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state Assembly, said here on Thursday that he has resolved not to do electoral campaign for the Nationalist Congress Party(NCP), in the wake of an undue remark, made by NCP chief Sharad Pawar, against his father late Balasaheb Vikhe Patil.
Talking with mediapersons here, Mr Vikhe Patil said that he will not campaign for the NCP contesting the Lok Sabha polls from the Ahmednagar seat. Talking about the remark, he said Mr Pawar had once talked about how he defeated Mr Vikhe Patil's father in the 1990's election and following the defeat, the late Union Minister had filed a lawsuit against Mr Pawar.
"Sharad Pawar's comment against my father was unwarranted and uncalled for. If Pawar despises my family so much, I would rather not campaign for the NCP's candidate from Ahmednagar," fumed the LoP.
Commenting on the recent defection of his son to BJP, Mr Vikhe Patil described it as a personal choice. The Congress and NCP have agreed on the ratio of 26:22 in the seat-sharing pact for Maharashtra LS polls. (UNI)
