Aurangabad, Mar 10 : The protestors can be called the disciples of Mahatma Gandhi's non-violence philosophy.

In a symbolic way, a group of activist in this district, on Saturday, distributed 'sugar' to protest against the downfall of Aurangabad in Swachh Bharat survey ranking. The protestors, under the umbrella of 'Jan Andolan Punhha Ek Muktisangraam' held Muncipal Corporation, District Administration and local legislators responsible for the lower ranking in cleanliness.

The group coordinator, Amol Dandge said that it’s a ‘blot’ on Aurangabad, which is also known as “Tourism Capital” of the state for its heritage. “Due to lack of interest for developmental work and politics in local bodies, the city’s development was halted,” the agitators reasoned.

Adding to the plight, the ongoing garbage issue is still unsolved by the local bodies, they further said. According to local reports, garbage is being piled up in Aurangabad and authorities are finding difficult to decompose it. (UNI)
