Nagpur, Mar 7: Nagpur is among the fast developing cities in the country, where there is a vast scope for trade, industrial development and investment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday.
After flagging off the Nagpur Metro through video conferencing, Mr Modi in his address said, "Since our government came to power, Metro connectivity has expanded from 250 Km to 650 Km, an increase of 400 Km in a short span of time."
Stating that the work on 800-Km Metro lines is currently in progress in different parts of the country, the Prime Minister said that these projects have also increased employment opportunities for the people.
The central government was working to modernise the traffic system in the city to meet its future needs, Mr Modi added.
The foundation stone of the 13.5-Km-long Nagpur Metro, connecting Khapri to Sitaburdi area of city in the first phase, was laid in 2014. (UNI)
