New Delhi, Mar 4: Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has said he is aware of the traffic woes of suburban commuters of Mumbai area, as he himself belonged to Mumbai and announced a 28 km new line of Kalyan-Murbad at the cost of Rs 726 crore.
After inaugurating the newly-built Parel Suburban terminus at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on Sunday, Mr Goyal, who was accompanied with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also announced a provision of 180 additional escalators for Central Railway and Western Railway. He also flagged off the inaugural run of suburban service from Parel terminus at a glittering function, an official statement here said.
The Minister has also expressed his willingness for rail connectivity between Alibagh and Pen, so that the commuters of Alibagh can also avail the rail facility to commute between Alibagh and Mumbai.
The Chief Minister, applauding Mr Goyal, has said, 'MUTP 3 and MUTP 3A are game changers for development of Mumbai. It’s for the first time in the History of Mumbai that Rs 55,000 crore have been allocated for MUTP 3A project.'
They also laid foundation stone for Solapur-Osmanabad New Line, a 84.44 km Line at a cost of Rs 905 crore, Ambernath and Badlapur Station improvement and ‘Chikhloli’ a new suburban halt station between Ambernath and Badlapur. There was huge demand for this station from various section of society.
They also dedicated the Railway Electrification of Pen-Thal line and Jasai-Uran line, “Utkrisht” rake of Trains - 110017/111008 Deccan Express, 19053/19054 Surat-Muzaffarpur Express, 22909/22910 Valsad-Puri Superfast Express, 12921/12922 Mumbai-Surat Flying Rani Express, a vistadome Coach of Neral-Matheran Toy Train, Foot Over Bridges at Kurla, Sion, Diva, GTB Nagar of Central Railway and Mahalakshmi, Palghar of Western Railway, Lonavala and Igatpuri station Re-development.
Train No. 11417/11418 Pune-Nagpur Humsafar Express via video link and Additional 15-car services over Central Railway from CSMT was also flagged-off by Mr Goyal and Mr Fadnavis. UNI
