Thane police hunts for man who caused ‘crude object explosion’ on street

Thane, Feb 20: The Rural Police have launched a hunt for an unidentified man who allegedly threw a "crude explosive" object on the road in front of a mall in Kashimira locality of the district on Wednesday.

This morning at around 1000 hours, one person reported about a blast and flash on road near Thakur Mall at Kashimira locality in the district. Upon getting the message, a police team rushed to the spot, secured the area and found traces of the object.

They also seized particles of plastic bottle, metal balls and locally-made jute fuse, police said and informed that it was a very small device incapable of injuring anyone.

Following this, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) also reached the spot for inspecting the samples.

The samples have been sent to forensic lab for analysis.

An offence has been registered with the local police station in this regard, sources said and added that further probe is underway. (UNI)
