Mumbai, Nov 9: The train services between Mumbai and Ahmedabad were affected as two bogies of a goods train caught fire near Dahanu in Palghar district of Maharashtra late on Thursday night.
"After receiving the news of the incident, the fire brigade, Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot to douse the flames," informed the sources in Western Railways.
The incident took place around 0100 hrs between Dahanu Road and Vangaon railway stations. The rescue operations started immediately and it took officials an hour to bring the situation under control.
Due to the heat of fire, an overhead electric wire melted which resulted in the cancellation of 12 trains whereas several others were delayed or halted.
A probe is underway to ascertain the exact cause which set the bogies on fire. (UNI)
