Youth loses life in street brawl

Thane, Nov 8 : A young man in his twenties was brutally killed by a group of ten persons on late Wednesday night in the Ulhasnagar of Thane district, the police said today.

Central Police station Police Inspector(Crime) A V Kaldate told that following the incident an offence under sections 302,324.143,147,149,504 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against the accused persons.

Tight security has been deployed in the Samrat Ashok Nagar, where the incident took place last night around 11:00 PM.

The police said that the victim, Navin Raju Chodhari(26) and his friend as well as the complainant Karan Bhalerao(24) were casually talking with other friends from the locality in the night around 10:30 PM.

At that time, a scooter driven by one of the accused crushed the leg of a boy belonging to the deceased group, following which an altercation ensued between the two. The boy riding the scooter left the place only to return with more persons, armed with iron rods.

The gang attacked the now deceased and his group, leaving them seriously injured. The deceased succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The situation became more intense as the people, whose vehicles got damaged in the fight, also hit both the groups.Hence, a police 'bandobast' is in place for avoiding further law and order situation.

The deceased body has been since handed over to the family members after a post-mortem, the police said.

The police gave the names of the accused as Kushal Nikam, Rahul Bhosale, Ritk Gangurde, Pradeep Jadhav, Jagdish Jadhav, Dileep Jadhav,Parya, among others.

Some of the accused have been taken into custody for interrogation and are likely to be placed under arrest, the police said. (UNI)
