Freedom fighter Maggirwar passes away

Aurangabad, Nov 5: Senior journalist and freedom fighter B N Maggirwar passed away at 89 years on Monday here due to old age.

Maggirwar hailing from Hingoli district of Marathwada region joined Jan Sangh at an early age and later became the editor of Jan Sangh's mouthpiece, 'Vivak'.

He also contributed immensely in many social movements viz. Marathwada Muktisangraam movement, 'Namantar Andolan' for Marathwada university. He was jailed for his participation in Goa Muktisangram movement. Later, he briefly worked as a special correspondent for Loksatta,New Delhi.

His work was highly appreciated among peers. Mr Maggirwar authored the book 'Smrutichi Chalta Pane'. His funeral will be performed at Puspanagari cremation centre at 1400 hrs on Monday. (UNI)
