‘Navratra’ kicks off amid worship and pomp in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Oct 10: A nine-day long "Shariya Navratra' festival kicked off here on Wednesday with "Ghatsthapna" (installation of God's festival idols) at Karveer Nivasini Goddess Mahalaxmi temple, popularly known as "Ambabai", in an enthusiastic festivity atmosphere.

Temple pujari "Shreepujak" Manoj Munishwar performed a 'Abhishek' on the old age of Goddess Mahalaxmi, followed by western Maharashtra Devsthan Committee (WMDC) president Mahesh Jadhav performed a governmental 'Puja' and then temple pujari performed a "Ghatsthapana' ritual with "Alankaric" (figurative) 'Puja' to make nine days long Navratra festival.

During the festival, 'puja' of Goddess Ambabai in various forms, will be performed on every day during 'Navratra', which is based on 'Karveer Mahatma Granth', to apprise importance of 'Adishakti' Ambabai to devotees.

On October 10, 'Puja' will perform in form of "Kollur's Mukatambica, Oct 11- Bhramhi", Oct 12 "Maheshwari, Oct 12 "to ascend on elephant, Oct 14 Kaumari, Oct 15 Pratayangira, Oct 16- Vaishnavi, Oct 17, Mahishasur Mardini and on Oct 17 the 'Puja' of Goddess will perform on ascend in Chariot form.

On October 13 a "Lalit Panchami day' of Navratra festival, a "Sohala" (function) of a "Bhet" (meeting) of Goddess Mahalaxmi and Goddess Temblai Devi, will take place at Temblaiwadi, five Km from Mahalaxmi temple, where goddess Mahalaxmi will go to meet Temblai devi by a religious procession with decorated 'Palkhi' with installation of 'Ustav Murti' (festival idol) of Goddess Mahalaxmi.
