Mah: Eight injured in cylinder blast

Thane ,Oct 7: Eight persons sustained burns after a gas cylinder exploded here at the Indira Nagar, police said on Sunday.

The injured were identified as Makhubal Khan, 29, Gomti Prasad Sharma, 50, Kamalavati Gomti Prasad Sharma,45, Narayan gomti Prasaad Sharma, 10, Shiva Gomti Prasad Sharma, 12, Baliram Bhandare, 60, Kalpesh Redekar 22 and Aditya Lahane 19.

The police said that the injured are undergoing treated at the government civil hospital and at least four of them are still critical and battling for their lives.

Santosh Kadam, Chief of the RDMC of the TMC told the correspondent on Sunday that a tiling work was being carried out in a house in the locality and the owner had kept the gas cylinder outside the house but due to fault, the pipe started leaking later resulting in a big blast which rocked the entire vicinity on Saturday late night.

Following the incident, Thane Guardian Minister Ekanth Shinde paid a visit to the hospital and enquired about the condition of those injured.

The Srinagar Police said that an offence under sections 285,366 and 338 of the IPC had been registered with the police last night against Gomti Prasad Sharma of negligence leading to the mishap.

The civil hospital authorities said that the badly injured Sharma family members were still in a critical condition and battling for their lives. (UNI)
