4 held in robbery case in Bhavnagar-Kakinada Express

Thane, Oct 4: With the arrest of four people, including a jeweller, the Vasai Railway police claimed to have solved the case of robbery, in which the accused had snatched away the bag containing jewellery worth Rs 44.87 lakh who was travelling by an express train, police said.

Addressing a news conference, DCP Railways Purushottam Karad told reporters that it was on September 29, 2018 when victim Kundan Vaishnav (38) boarded Bhavnagar-Kakinada Express and was busy finding her seat, three unidentified persons snatched away the bag containing the jewellery of 1,465 gms from his hands and fled the scene.

Police swung into action, and nabbed the four -- Tousif Taukir Kham (23), Harish Devraj Rawal (35), Hussain Ilias Subanis (37) and Mohammad Rafique Yusuf Shaikh (32), who all hail from neighbouring Palghar district. While, three others are yet to be arrested, police added. UNI
