Bhopal, May 10 : The number of COVID-19-infected areas has declined from 896 to 613 in Madhya Pradesh where no fresh case was reported from Betul, Sheopur and Alirajpur districts in the past 21 days, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan averred on Sunday with a note of cautious optimism.
It was officially learnt that the veteran leader reviewed – through video-conferencing at Mantralaya – the situation arising out of the pandemic and the arrangements to combat it. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Director General of Police Vivek Johri and Additional CS (Health) Mohammed Suleman attended the meeting.
In the words of Addl CS Suleman, “The number of active cases has reduced to 1,723; which is 48 per cent of total positive instances. On this day, 196 patients were discharged. A total 157 positives were reported.” During assessment of Khandwa and Dewas districts, Mr Chouhan directed an intensive survey of contaminated zones there. Uncompromising adherence to lockdown should be ensured and “no crowding” allowed anywhere. (UNI)
