Bhopal, Jan 11: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath averred on Saturday that a Millet Mission Corporation be constituted to enhance yield and utilisation of small grain, official sources said.
During a review meeting at Mantralaya, the Chief Minister issued directives vis-a-vis ensuring procurement of paddy from all cultivators by January 20 besides timely payment.
While ordering prior preparations for acquisition and storage of rabi crops, he asked officials to ink a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for decentralised acquirement.
“Collectors should be directed to maintain a strict vigil for ensuring that paddy is not brought it from other states during procuring. Make arrangements by assessing procurement centres in advance and determine accountability of agencies. There must be less expenditure on transportation of acquired wheat. Keeping convenience of peasants in view, maximum acquisition centres ought to be set up in consultation with the district administration. Essential facilities such as canteens should be made available to farmers at the centres, a proposal for the amount to be expended must be prepared. Chalk out a plan to widely publicise government schemes for tillers’ welfare,” the Chief Minister said. (UNI)
