Indore, MP, Oct 8 : A strike by truck, tanker and dumper owners – which commenced on Saturday in Madhya Pradesh’s commercial capital – concluded on Tuesday after government-level talks.
“Our representatives met Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput at his residence,” said a release by the Truck and Transport Sangharsh Samiti. The body’s Chairman CL Mukati claimed that the politician assured that a decision would be taken within a month regarding the principal demand for rolling back 5 per cent enhancement in Value Added Tax(VAT). Consensus was arrived at vis-a-vis other issues such as compulsory lifetime tax on commercial vehicles.
On Sunday, local fuel distributors ran out of stock and long queues were observed at pumps. However, the administration made alternative arrangements the following day. (UNI)
