Bhopal, Aug 9 : Life has been thrown off gear in numerous areas of Madhya Pradesh owing to rivers being in spate and nullahs overflowing due to heavy precipitation, which compelled opening of 15 out of 21 sluice gates on Friday at the Bargi Dam across the Narmada.
In Burhanpur – which recorded in excess of 80 mm rainfall – the Tapti is flowing 6 m above the danger mark. “The monsoon trough line is passing via western Madhya Pradesh and Jabalpur therefore isolated yet intense rain may be experienced over the next 24 hours. However, the situation is likely to abate from Sunday or Monday,” senior meteorologist PK Saha told UNI here. (UNI)
