Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Gopal Bhargava dropped a bombshell in the assembly on Wednesday saying that the Kamal Nath government would fall in 24 hours if the "number 1 and number 2" in BJP give the signal.
Speaking in the Madhya Pradesh assembly a day after BJP toppled the JDS-Congress coalition government in Karnataka, Bhargava said, "This government can fall within 24 hours if our number one and number two give us the desired signal."
Reacting to Bhargava's claim, Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who was present at the House, said that "this would not happen, because your number 1 and number 2 are wise", adding Bhargava should reveal who the number 1 and number 2 are.
Kamal Nath said the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh was safe, asserting that Chief Minister Kamal Nath has the support of 121 MLAs in the 231-member Madhya Pradesh assembly.
While Congress won 114 seats in the 2018 assembly elections, BJP won 109 and lost out to Kamal Nath, who formed the government with the support of BSP and a few Independent MLAs. However, BJP won almost all of the constituencies in the 2019 Lok Sabha sabha elections. While BJP won 28 of the 29 Lok Sabha seats, Congress, which is ruling the state, won only 1 seat in the entire state.
