Bhopal, June 14: Reviewing the progress of Project Gaushala, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Thursday directed that any person or institution desirous of opening a cowshed should be granted the right to utilise government land, official sources said.
“Reconstitute district animal welfare committees and constitute such bodies at block level. Project Gaushala must be accelerated, the deadline set and I ought to be informed about which cowshed will be started and when. A movement should be launched for protection of bovines. More and more gaushalas must be set up in the entire state, whether at government level or with private help. Publicise the programme among non-resident Indians. Any interested entity can meet me.
The Animal Husbandry Department may identify such persons. Subsidy on cattle feed was enhanced and budgetary provision shall be made for that. Invite proposals to prepare low-cost ideal designs of cowsheds,” Nath averred.Construction of 955 gaushalas has commenced, 614 are operational and 1.60 lakh cows being reared. (UNI)
